Anyone else find Malaysia's flag a bit interesting?

According to the wikipedia article, the flag's designer did take inspiration from the American flag. I believe part of this is because Malaysia is a federation of states like the US (just Muslim), and that at the time of adoption the Malayan Emergency was in effect (a counter-insurgency war against Communists).
