Are Modern NBA players English skills deteriorating?

Good ysis by Michael, what I find more troubling is that many of the NBA players, black or white, who are less articulate are American born and speak little to nothing of another language. If it's someone from another country, english-speaking fans + media should appreciate their effort. In comparasion, how many American basketball players try and communicate in the language of their "new" country when playing abroad?
