Country fans, please help me figure this out?

A few years back, maybe 2005 or 2006, I was watching CMT late night music video blocks and this really good country song came on. All I remember are details of the video, it was set in a surreal environment, perhaps outer space or on a mountain, and there was a guy whom was presumably acting as a conscious voice to the protagonist character of the song. In the music video this guy was dressed in all black, he possibly had facial hair and was wearing a black cowboy hat. The group performing the song was playing instruments and the lead singer was singing his piece, all the while this mysterious figure would comment on the subject of the lyrics by speaking the phrases "good job man" and "yeah man". Please, if anybody has any idea what this fantastic piece of music is, please let me know. Thanks!
