How do i go about getting into events management?

i am 19 years old and have 2 A-Levels one of which is in travel and tourism i recieved a B for this course, as part of this course we had to organise an event, this is when i realised i would really like to do this as a career. i also have a NVQ level 2 in Business Administration amoungst other computer skills. I do not want to go to a university i would like to get into an organisation and work my way up. i was wondering how i would go about this, and will companys take on people without any experience? i live in Kent, so it would probably be best to search in London. can anyone help me with this please, i would be grateful.
